Shania Twain is set to join the star-studded cast of Beauty and the Beast, taking on the beloved role of Mrs. Potts.

Some of the performers in star-studded cast of Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration were annonced in a press release Monday morning (October 17), including Twain. The Wonderful World of Disney will present the two-hour reimagined, live-action special, set to air on ABC on Thursday, December 15 at 8 p.m. ET. It’ll be available on Disney+ the following day, according to the release from ABC.

“I am unbelievably honoured... and excited... and all of the emotions(!!) to announce that I will be joining the cast of [Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration] to play the part of my favourite character - Mrs. Potts,” Twain gushed when she made the announcement on her social media channels on Monday. She also included a heartfelt tribute to the former Mrs. Potts voice, Angela Lansbury. The late actress died at her Los Angeles home, days before her 97th birthday. Twain wrote: “And of course, I would be remiss if I didn't pay tribute to the iconic Angela Lansbury, I mean she IS Mrs. Potts and the reason why this character is so beloved. To follow in the foot steps of such an icon is a huge honour and I hope to do the part justice.”

Other performers announced on Monday include Martin Short as Lumière, David Alan Grier as Cogsworth, Rizwan Manji as LeFou, and Jon Jon Briones as Maurice. Twain’s onscreen son will be Leo Abelo Perry, playing Mrs. Potts’ son, a teacup named Chip. See Twain’s post here:
