Carrie Underwood shared a few details about her highly-anticipated “Denim & Rhinestones” Tour during an interview with TODAY on Friday morning (October 14), the day she plays her first show.
Underwood is kicking off the tour Friday night in Greenville, South Carolina, and told TODAY’s Sheinelle Jones that she’s eager to perform for the crowds as she launches the six-month, 43-city trek. She and her husband, former NHL star Mike Fisher, have two young children — Isaiah, 7, and Jacob, 3 — who will join when they’re not in school. Otherwise, Underwood said she’ll be able to fly home to see them on her days off, she said.
Fittingly, the “Denim & Rhinestones” Tour is set to include tons of rhinestones in Underwood’s wardrobe pieces. The American Idol champ showed Jones the glamorous looks she’ll wear during her shows, optimistic that “you always can” add more rhinestones to the already-dazzling collection. Underwood also toured Jones through her mobile gym and took her onto the stage, where she plans to do something different with each performance throughout the tour.
Underwood released her latest album, Denim & Rhinestones, in June, aiming to for the project to include “‘throwback’ type songs, but they sound so super fresh. …I really just wanted to make an album that just felt like fun.” The 12-track project features her latest single, “Hate My Heart,” along with “Ghost Story,” “Crazy Angels,” “Pink Champagne” and other fan-favorite songs throughout the album.
