Reba McEntire is gearing up for the premiere of Big Sky: Deadly Trails, the chilling third season of a crime drama that focuses on “a private detective (who) teams up with an ex-cop to solve a kidnapping case in Montana.”

But many fans still can’t help but wonder: Will there ever be a Reba reboot?

McEntire starred as Reba Hart in the beloved early 2000s sitcom, which premiered in 2001 and ended in 2007. The country music legend played “a single mom of three, navigating life in a Houston suburb.” JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Scarlett Pomers and Mitch Holleman played McEntire’s children. Christopher Rich played McEntire’s ex-husband, and Melissa Peterman played Rich’s character's new wife and McEntire’s character's unlikely friend.

The “I’m A Survivor” icon said during an interview on The Bobby Bones Show earlier this year that she was “trying hard” for a reboot. “I really want to work with the people that I got to work with during that six and a half years,” she said at the time, adding later: “It was fun, the cast the crew everybody we got to work with and play with, they were wonderful people. …We wanted to get back together like a reunion and have fun, so hopefully that will happen one day.”

During an interview on Good Morning America on Tuesday (September 20), McEntire fielded a question about whether we’re any closer to getting a reboot of Reba:

“Unfortunately not. I thought we were getting really close, but nope. Not gonna be able to do it for right now, but we’ll kinda keep seeing if we can get in there somewhere.”

Until then, the new season of Big Sky is set to premiere on Wednesday night (September 21) at 10/9c on ABC. McEntire joins the cast with Rex Linn, her real-life boyfriend who plays her husband on the show, and others. McEntire also spoke about the show, her first appearance at the legendary Grand Ole Opry, her upcoming tour and more. Watch the interview here:
