Shania Twain spoke about the new country music drama Monarch as she gears up for her guest appearance on the new FOX series, which she describes as “dramatic, sexy and juicy.”

The show premiered earlier this month, starring country music giant Trace Adkins, along with Susan Sarandon, Anna Friel, Joshua Sasse and Beth Ditto, among others. “The Romans have created a country music dynasty but when their reign as country royalty is put in jeopardy, Nicolette (Friel) will stop at nothing to protect her family's legacy,” its synopsis reads.

Twain knew when an executive producer of the show told her about the series focused on country royalty, she had to make an appearance: “I’m the queen of country-pop, after all.” Other celebrity guests set to appear on Monarch include Martina McBrideLittle Big Town and Tanya Tucker throughout the season.

Though Twain noted that some of the series is “close to reality” and other plot details are further from the truth, she applauded Monarch for its focus on female country artists. She said in a reel shared on Instagram on Tuesday (September 20):

“Women of country music have been a diamond in a rhinestone world. I’m really glad to see Monarch bringing female country artists to the forefront.”
