Carly Pearce has heard, on many occasions, that her music resonates deeply with many country music listeners. The singer-songwriter is no stranger to hearing crowds passionately shout every word back to her as she sings her biggest songs (especially fan-favorite tracks from her latest project, 29: Written in Stone).
But at least once, Pearce encountered a fan who took their appreciation for her lyrics to a whole new level. Pearce once met a fan who got a tattoo of some of the lyrics from “It Won’t Always Be Like This,” a song that Pearce included on her self-titled sophomore album. The 13-track project debuted in early 2020: “It won't always be like this/ It won't always be like this/ I know nothing lasts forever but sometimes I still forget/ It won't always be like this/ …No the heart won't ache forever no matter how hard it gets/ It won't always be like this, no.”
Pearce — who has at least half a dozen tattoos of her own — was moved by the fan’s tattoo. She reflected in a statement shared by her record label:
“That was crazy, and for him to be vulnerable enough to tell his story of addiction and that he overcame that, it’s powerful. And to see that, it was really amazing and it just shows me the power of music, and we can change lives with lyrics.”
