Brooke Eden debuted her latest offering from her upcoming five-track EP, and it celebrates putting yourself above an unhealthy relationship. “Left You For Me” released Friday (June 3).

“Sometimes there’s shame in staying in relationships for too long. I wanted to write a song that celebrates leaving whatever toxic situation you might’ve been in so you can be the best version of you,” Eden said in a statement of her new song and music video, which premiered on CMT. Eden further explained to CMT, while speaking about the video filmed with best friend Ford Fairchild: “Change is hard for anybody. It takes so much to take that huge step. Sometimes it’s leaving someone you’ve been with for a really long time. Sometimes it takes leaving your whole living situation or everything you’ve ever known. It really does take a lot of bravery, and so many people feel shame. This is a message of self-love. …I would love for people to just take away that they’re not the only person in a situation like this. They’re not alone.”

“Left You For Me” is one of five songs included on Eden’s soon-to-release project, Choosing You. She co-wrote and produced the EP with longtime collaborator Jesse Frasure, chronicling her journey “back to herself,” according to a press release announcing Eden’s new song on Friday. Eden sought to answer one question as she delved into therapeutic writing sessions: “What makes you happy?” On the collection, “Eden meshes her clear message of assurance with some expert production and toe-tapping musicianship.” See the track list here:
