Mickey Guyton is teaming up with Black Pumas again, blending Guyton’s country expertise with the Black Pumas’ “psychedelic-soul” skill. They’ll take the stage again during a CMT Crossroads event, building off of their 2022 CMT Music Awards performance earlier this year.
The “Remember Her Name” artist will sing some of the R&B duo’s songs with them, and vice versa. The CMT Crossroads: Black Pumas & Mickey Guyton setlist includes “Fire,” “Confines,” “Black Like Me” and “Better Than You Left Me.”
“We are huge Black Pumas fans in my house, so I was so excited to do this CMT Crossroads,” Guyton said in a statement, per CMT. “Eric and Adrian are just incredible, and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did.”
The excitement to s hare the stage was mutual. Black Pumas added: “Hearing her voice on our song ’Fire’ was really incredible. She added so much of her own style to it in a way that still felt familiar to the song. We’re excited for everyone to see all of our performances together.”
CMT notes that the upcoming Crossroads special is the first time Black Pumas will appear on the series, and Guyton’s second time, following her appearance on a special episode marking 25 years as a recording artist for iconic country singer LeAnn Rimes.
