On top of being one of country music’s biggest stars, Hillary Scott is known for being a loving mother to her three daughters. The Lady A frontwoman and her husband, drummer Chris Tyrrell, are parents to Eisele Kaye, 8, and Betsy Mack and Emory JoAnn, both 4.

When Lady A went to the studio to record their latest album, What A Song Can Do, Scott got to share a special experience with her twin girls. Her record label shared a statement from Scott as she remembered the experience, noting that Lady A recorded What A Song Can Do during quarantine because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The girls, Betsey and Emory, got to join their mother with fewer people in the studio. Scott remembered:

“This is the first time that my twins, Emory and Betsy, were able to come in and stand in front of a mic. They would both love to sing. I would have to say Betsy, if you ask her, it’s always a yes, and she’ll just bust into something. She still very much loves ‘This Is Me’ from The Greatest Showman. Anything with oh oh‘s in it, it’s her favorite. It was so cool to see them hearing their own voice back and just gettin’ to be in the control room with me because the majority of their life they haven’t really come to work with mom. So, it was really sweet to have them be able to do that.”

One of Scott’s bandmates, Dave Haywood, recently applauded Scott as a mother, particularly after knowing one another for more than a dozen years: “I mean, there is not a day where she doesn’t show me a photo, tell me a story, and give me some kind of cute moment, or hard moment or a real life moment with her daughters. And I love how proud she is of them.”

The third bandmate, Charles Kelley, previously spoke about What A Song Can Do, and why its title track is “probably my favorite (song) off this collection. …You know, it’s just the power of music and how a song can fit so many different emotions.” Listen to the song here:
