Lainey Wilson revealed a new part of her soon-to-release song, days after teasing it on her social media channels. “Y’all asked for it… So here is the chorus!! HEART LIKE A TRUCK will be out Friday!!” Wilson shared in a new video on Monday (May 16), adding in her caption: “I love seeing how excited y’all are for this song! Let’s gooo! #heartlikeatruck #bellbottomcountry”
Wilson has preciously debuted “Heart Like A Truck” during live performances, including at the 2022 Country Radio Seminar (CRS). When asked about it at the 57th Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards in Las Vegas earlier this year, Wilson shared the story behind the song:
“When we sat down to write the song, we really just kinda started talkin’ about all the things that we have gone through, me and my cowriters. And, we were just talking about how, at the end of the day, it’s about putting on your big girl panties, it’s about pullin’ up your bootstraps, it’s about movin’ forward… The last few years, I think we have all done that. And so, I just kind of felt like this was the song. This is a song that is just one of those powerful anthem songs that people need to hear. I think we all got a heart like a truck.”
“These past few months have been such a whirlwind, but man, it was quite the journey to get here. Miley (Cyrus) wasn’t playing when she said, ‘it’s about the climb,’ because it really is what builds character and teaches you the most about yourself,” Wilson said in a statement. “‘Heart Like A Truck’ is all about self-discovery, growth and embracing scars as badges of honor. After all, a truck that has hit a few bumps and earned some scratches has proved itself and its tenacity—the shiny one on the lot can’t say that.”
“Heart Like A Truck” is set to release Friday (May 20). Listen to a snippet of the unreleased song here:
