One of Thomas Rhett’s star-studded collaborations on his latest album is “Half Of Me” with Riley Green, and the two country artists teamed up for a live performance of the duet at the 2022 CMT Music Awards on Monday evening (April 11).

Rhett recently celebrated the release of Where We Started — the first of two albums set to release this year, followed by Country Again: Side B — with an exclusive iHeartRadio Album Release Party in Nashville. The “Slow Down Summer” singer performed some of the new songs from his sixth studio album, along with others he might consider an “oldie but a goodie.” During his album release party, Rhett reflected on writing “Half Of Me.” it was after trying to write music without coming up with much. Rhett suggested breaking for lunch when he heard the response: “half of me wants a beer, and the other half does, too.”

The rest was history.

Rhett nabbed Green as his duet partner, and now the two sing: “Half of me wants a cold beer/ Yeah, that's the cold hard truth/ And with the ‘frigerator stocked full of 'em/ Tell me what's a boy to do?/ I ain't even tryna fight it, it's already been decided/ The sky and the mountains are blue/ Half of me wants a cold beer/ And the other half does too”

Green is gearing up for “One Margarita” singer Luke Bryan’s “Raised Up Right” Tour, which stops in more than 30 cities this year. He’s no stranger to delivering strong live performances, including an impressive one at the iHeartCountry Festival in 2020 (though under “different circumstances” than he imagined amid the pandemic). During that show, Green performed “Better Than Me,” “If It Wasn’t For Trucks,” and “I Wish Grandpas Never Died.”

Rhett is one of many artists included in the star-studded lineup at the iHeartCountry Festival presented by Capital One, set for May 7 in Austin, Texas. Fans can tune in and stream the 2022 iHeartCountry Festival on iHeartMedia's Country music radio stations in local markets across the country, as well as on iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio app on May 7th at 8pm ET/5pm PT (7pm CT). Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.com.
