Thomas Rhett Says It's 'Rare' For Him To Choose The Movies In His Household

Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins keep busy as they raise their four young daughters, so it’s rare that they have a moment to themselves to watch TV — and Rhett says the shows and movies the family watches are often not his selection.

Rhett noted that he and Akins recently finished watching Yellowstone and 1883, the prequel series that stars fellow country stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Other than that, the “Slow Down Summer” singer has been watching and listening to songs from beloved Disney movies with his daughters: Willa Gray (6), Ada James (4), Lennon Love (2) and Lillie Carolina, born in November. Rhett said in a recent statement:

“If me and Lauren get a chance to watch a TV show, which is rare, we finished Yellowstone and we finished 1883, but those two have been our diehard favorites. But, we’ve been watching Sing 2 quite a bit. We’ve been watching Encanto every day. My two-year-old, Lennon, when we get in the car she just keeps saying, ‘Surface! Surface!,’ because there’s a song on that album called ‘Surface Pressure.’ And so that is really what we’ve been listening to for basically the last two years.”

Rhett just released his sixth studio album, Where We Started, and he shared during his exclusive iHeartRadio Album Release Party that Lennon has a favorite song on the record. When she’s not requesting Encanto, she calls out for “daddy’s song,” meaning “Church Boots.” The album is also packed with fan-favorite tracks like “Bring The Bar,” “Angels,” and the title track, a collaboration with Katy Perry.
