When Darius Rucker appeared on a celebrity episode of Undercover Boss in 2017, he donned a disguise to search for up-and-coming artists. One of the musicians that stood out to him most was Jocelyn, an artist who is now representing the state of Nebraska on NBC’s new competition show, American Song Contest.
The new series, hosted by Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg, is based “on the worldwide phenomenon Eurovision Song Contest, a musical spectacular watched by 200 million viewers annually,” according to NBC. Contestants — including solo artists, duos, bands and DJs — perform original songs live, representing all 50 states, five U.S. territories and the U.S. capital — all vying for America’s vote for Best Original Song. The highly-anticipated show premiered this month.
Rucker took to Instagram, sharing: “I first heard @Jocelynmusic sing while filming Undercover Boss and immediately became a fan. Now… she’s on @AmericanSongContest representing Nebraska! Y’all, this girl is amazing and I know you’ll love her. Let’s get her some votes!” Rucker’s fans gushed in the comments that they loved the photo, and promised to vote for Jocelyn on American Song Contest (which Rucker noted viewers can do on TikTok, on the NBC app, or online).
