Thomas Rhett wondered whether he should get a tattoo after hilariously showing off his drawing skills on Friday afternoon (March 18). The “Slow Down Summer” singer explained in a new video he shared on social media that he thinks he’s “OK at making music,” but his artistic skills might not transfer when it comes to drawing — including portraits of his wife, Lauren Akins.

“I would imagine no one is going to want this, but just in case there was someone out there…” Rhett said before revealing his creation. “I’ve always thought about getting a new tattoo, and I thought I would test it out on one of these vinyl covers. So, I drew a picture of Lauren on my neck, and this is how it turned out. Love you, babe!”

Rhett showed off his drawing on the cover of his upcoming album, Where We Started. The highly-anticipated project is the first of two albums Rhett plans to release this year, along with Country Again: Side B. The album is set to include “Slow Down Summer,” “Church Boots,” “Angels,” “Us Someday,” “Death Row” and others. The album’s title track is a collaboration with pop titan Katy Perry.

Ironically, Akins didn’t realize until recently that her husband’s next album is releasing soon.

Rhett is one of many artists included in the star-studded lineup at the iHeartCountry Festival presented by Capital One, set for May 7 in Austin, Texas. Fans can tune in and stream the 2022 iHeartCountry Festival on iHeartMedia's Country music radio stations in local markets across the country, as well as on iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio app on May 7th at 8pm ET/5pm PT (7pm CT).
