Dillon Carmichael just premiered his new music video for “Son Of A,” the title track of his 14-song project that released in October. “Son Of A” delves into a strained relationship between a parent and child, and reflects on revelations about the relationship later in life: “I’m a son of a momma/ A son of a dad/ Who will never stop loving me and being there/ And giving me everything they have/ Let me tell ya that I get it now/ I’ll admit it now/ Why I am the way I am/ I’m a son of a momma, a son of a dad/ Who give a damn.”
Carmichael’s new music video debuted on Wednesday (March 16). The Kentucky-born singer’s latest collection follows his 2018 debut Hell On An Angel, and he recorded “high-energy, feel-good country” on Hot Beer during the pandemic. “Whether I’m singing a tear jerker or a party tune, the only thing that really matters to me is that it’s a great song,” Carmichael said in a statement on his website. “And great songs are honest songs.”
He continued, explaining that his passion for music stems from his family (and legendary artists like Waylon Jennings and Vern Gosdin). “I didn’t at any point consciously decide I was going to be a musician,” Carmichael said. “It just happened naturally. I found a kind of truth in country music that I couldn’t get anywhere else.” Watch Carmichael’s new music video here:
