Kelly Clarkson covered an iconic country song, and she may as well have performed it in a Nashville honkey tonk. The pop titan grabbed the mic and delivered her rendition of “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” by Brooks & Dunn, rocking the duo’s upbeat song that’s been a hit since they released it in the early 1990s. It’s tough for anyone to resist tapping their toes along when Brooks & Dunn (or in this case, Clarkson) sing: “heel, toe, do-si-do, come on baby, let's go boot scootin’/ Oh, Cadillac, BlackJack, baby, meet me out back/ We're gonna boogie/ Get down, turn around, go to town. Boot scootin' boogie.”
Clarkson performed “Book Scootin’ Boogie” during the “Kellyoke” segment of The Kelly Clarkson Show, backed by her band, Y’all. Clarkson’s show is hailed as “the uplifting daytime destination for humor and connection featuring Emmy-winning talk show, Grammy-winning artist and America’s original idol, Kelly Clarkson.” Her Brooks & Dunn cover wasn’t the first time Clarkson included a nod to country music during her show. She recently covered one of Kacey Musgraves’ latest songs, and earlier this week, caught up with rising country singer Priscilla Block after debuting her first album.
