Scotty McCreery got the ultimate shoutout… McCreery recently premiered his latest music video, inspired by King of Country George Strait. The “Damn Strait” video captured the attention of the legendary country artist himself, who shared the link on Twitter and tagged McCreery and Gruene Hall, the historic Texas venue where Strait often performed and where McCreery filmed his latest project. The “Damn Strait” singer took to Instagram to share a screenshot of the tweet, writing in the caption: “Wowww! The [GOAT]! Glad you like it, [George Strait]! #DamnStrait”
McCreery’s new black-and-white video captures memorabilia of performances at the dance hall in New Braunfels, Texas. He nostalgically reflects on a past relationship, finding himself unable to listen to Strait’s songs the same way after breaking up.
Strait and his band became a fixture of Gruene Hall for several years, beginning in 1975. Although the band fell short of landing recording contracts in Nashville multiple times over the years, Strait finally made his debut with the release of Strait Country, kicking off his iconic decades-long career. He even returned to Gruene Hall to photograph his album cover.
McCreery is one of many artists included in the star-studded lineup at the iHeartCountry Festival presented by Capital One, set for May 7 in Austin, Texas.
