Jimmie Allen and Brad Paisley are celebrating a major milestone for their smash hit song, “Freedom Was A Highway.” The two country artists teamed up on the summer anthem last year, and now, it’s Allen’s third No. 1 song (and Paisley’s 25th).
“This song is super special to me. I wrote it about the streets I grew up driving on in Milton and Lewes, Delaware. It has been amazing to see the song connect with so many people,” Allen told Billboard, per a press release announcing the achievement. “A huge thank you to my friends at country radio and my Stoney Creek team.
“Working with Brad was great. I have been a fan of him since his career started and have always wanted to work with him,” Allen continued. “I’m honored to call him a collaborator and friend. Also, he crushed that guitar solo and then vocals!”
Paisley added that he “couldn’t be prouder to ride shotgun on this record with Jimmie,” pledging to be “the Sally Fields to his Burt Reynolds anytime.”
“Freedom Was A Highway” is the award-winning country artist’s latest No. 1 song, following “Best Shot” in November 2018 and “Make Me Want To” in March 2020, according to a press release from Allen’s record label. Allen and Paisley also teamed up to bring the summer anthem to life with a music video. Watch it here:
