We don’t get to hear Maren Morris’ next album until March, but the “Circles Around This Town” singer-songwriter took to TikTok to share a sneak peek. Morris wondered “is a full chorus a leak?,” when she captioned her post with an hourglass emoji and shared a snippet of “Background Music.”
“Background Music” is one of the songs on Morris’ upcoming 11-track album, Humble Quest. The highly-anticipated project includes her autobiographical single that reflects on her beginnings in Nashville, among other highlights. Morris previously explained that Humble Quest is a result of some of the “most authentic and light lyrics that have ever flowed from my pen.” It shares “the stories of my rises, my overshares, my appreciation of Midwestern guys who stand at least a foot taller than me, my lullabies, my wine-soaked conversations with a dear friend and my final goodbye to one.” Humble Quest is set to release on March 25. Morris gave fans the first taste of her upcoming project with “Circles Around This Town,” releasing the single and music video earlier this month. She told iHeartCountry: “The idea for ‘Circles Around This Town’ came from just a title I had bouncing around my head. I thought it would be clever to say I would drive circles around this town, meaning Nashville, trying to write circles around it, meaning the songwriters. And I just got immediately humbled when I got here nine years ago and realized everyone in Nashville is a great songwriter and you better get in line… I think I ultimately wanted this song to feel like a trip down memory lane, but also hopefully positive and inspiring for any aspiring songwriter out there or just dream-haver. I think if you have a dream and you’re trying to make it happen, that target is always moving.”
