Miranda Lambert saddles up her horse and struts through the double doors of a classic western saloon, decked out in a shimmering cowboy hat and fringe-covered boots to kick off her latest, Wild West-inspired music video. The country singer-songwriter rightfully sings “If I was a cowboy, I’d be the Queen,” in her new “If I Was A Cowboy” video, which she premiered Wednesday evening (January 12).
“We shot this video in a little old town in Texas with real cowboys and you’ll see some cameos from a few of my favorite people,” Lambert shared on Instagram, tagging husband Brendan McLoughlin. The “Bluebird” singer longs for the cowboy life throughout the video, singing around a campfire, having a drink with fellow saloon patrons, and — of course — riding horses into the sunset.
“If I was a cowboy, I’d be wild and free/ Rollin’ around these towns like tumbleweeds/ I’d be a legend at loving and leaving/ Nipping on a whiskey and numbing up my feelings/ You thought the West was wild but you ain’t saddled up with me/ If I was a cowboy, I’d be the queen”
“I wrote this song with my new friend, Jesse Frazier. We met doing the remix of ‘Tequila Does’ and he and I just got together one day, one afternoon for a write and this is what came out of it,” Lambert previously said of the making of ‘If I Was A Cowboy.’ “You know, it’s funny, he’s a Detroit boy and I’m an East Texan, but somehow we wrote a song about the Wild West together. So it’s pretty cool.”
Fans can catch Lambert on The Bandwagon Tour, a 15-city co-headlining endeavor with Little Big Town. The upcoming tour is a revival of its 2018 run. The two headliners will feature special guests, The Cadillac Three, on the next set of The Band Wagon Tour dates. Watch Lambert’s latest music video here:
