Fans in Texas got a treat when North Carolina native Luke Combs traveled down to Billy Bob's in Fort Worth, Texas. During his trip, the country star stepped up to the mic and delivered his rendition of John Mellencamp’s “Jack & Diane." As expected, fans loved his version of the 1982 hit, so he uploaded it to TikTok where it received even more love. In under 24 hours, the quick little video earned more than 100,000 likes and nearly 3,500 shares.

"A little ditty ‘bout Jack & Diane at Billy Bob's," he captioned the video.

"Luke, please make this an actual cover," one fan replied.

"We need an album dedicated to just covers. Like seriously," another fan wrote.

For those who remember the original, this may be hard to read but it turns 30 years old next year. Written and performed by John Mellencamp, the single spent four weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart and earned a platinum plaque from the RIAA as one of the songs of the century. American Fool, the project that the song was featured on, also landed atop the Billboard album chart for several weeks. Not to mention, it spawned another hit called "Hurts So Good."

Over time, "Jack & Diane" has influenced the music of stars like Jessica Simpson and Jake Owen. There was also a film called Jack & Diane released in 2012. Luke Combs may be able to extend the song's everlasting legacy by putting out a cover to celebrate its 30th anniversary next year. For now, fans will just have to play the TikTok version over and over.
