Chevelle has finally returned with brand new music and shared their latest single "Self destructor," while also announcing their forthcoming new album, titled NIRATIAS.
"Self destructor" is an aggressive rock song with lyrics that seem to fit the events of 2020, in relation to the pandemic, perfectly (despite being written the year before). The band's Pete Loeffler sings, "They don’t care what the science says/ They don’t want to talk/ 'Cause this time ready or not, This time you fought us all/ 'Cause this time you aren’t at all right, You aren’t at all right/ Ten million other lives." He continues, "How can we save/ And how in this time/ The lessons we learned/ To rescue the mind before it’s gone."
The song comes with an almost six-minute sci-fi music video, which sees the guys dressed up in black suits, reminiscent of Men In Black, as they investigate a mysterious astronaut who has buried something deep in the woods. They follow his steps until they finally discover what has been hidden.
Chevelle's new album NIRATIAS is set to be released on March 5th and follows the band's 2016 album The North Corridor, and the guys teamed up with longtime producer Joe Barresi on the new project.
The NIRATIAS album artwork shows a futuristic scene as a woman looks out at a sci-fi-esque city and what appears to be a robot passing by. The album art was created by Boris Vallejo, the award-winning artist who has made posters for films including Knightriders and National Lampoon's Vacation, among other notable projects.
