Maren Morris' album, Girl, has been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album, released in March 2019, accumulated 24 million streams in its debut week making it the largest debut streaming week for a country album by a woman.
Morris's first single from the album was the title track, "Girl" followed by "The Bones." Both songs hit the top of the charts making Morris the first solo female country act to have back-to-back number ones since Carrie Underwood in 2012 with "Blown Away." Most recently, Morris announced "To Hell & Back" as her new single.
Morris turned to social media to share the exciting news with her fans. "GIRL THE ALBUM IS GOLD," she wrote, adding, "Appreciate this plaque hiding how pregnant I am. 😂"
Morris leads the 2020 ACM Awards nominations with five nods including Female Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for Girl, and Musical Event of the Year for joining Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde, Tenille Townes, Caylee Hammack and Elle King on "Fooled Around and Fell in Love." Her fifth nomination is Group of the Year as a member of the female super group, The Highwomen.
A full list of nominations can be seen here. The ACM Awards, hosted for the first time by Keith Urban, will take place on April 5 in Las Vegas. Fans can tune in to watch live on CBS at 8PM ET.
