Claire Adelman woke up in her beach home in the middle of the night earlier this month with a feeling like something wrong. She couldn't quite explain what was happening but she knew she didn't feel well.
The 84-year-old tried to yell for her children but they were both asleep. That's when her dog took control and ran to wake Claire's son, Dale. Dale says he thought the dog just needed to go outside but usually she'll stand at the backdoor and cry until someone lets her out.
Thats when Dale decided to get up and see if something else was wrong. Dale found his mother Claire in her room with her eyes rolled back into her head and her blood sugar through the roof.
Paramedics rushed Claire to the hospital where doctors performed emergency heart surgery and inserted a pace maker. The doctors told Claire's children that had they found her just 15 minutes later she would no longer be alive.
Claire says she owes her life to her dog!
