Alexandra Kay Nods To Dolly Parton With Her Version Of Christmas Classic

Alexandra Kay shared her version of Dolly Parton’s “Hard Candy Christmas.” 

Kay, 34, said she “HAD to” share her rendition of the song when she posted a clip on Instagram on Thursday (December 4). Parton, who celebrates her 80th birthday next month, released “Hardy Candy Christmas,” written by Carol Hall, as a single in 1982. Kay said she’s “obsessed with this one! Happy holidays!”

Kay has previously covered “Hard Candy Christmas” and other songs by Parton, along with hits by other country artists over the years. The Illinois-born singer-songwriter went viral on TikTok for her “Coffee Covers,” singing songs by Tim McGrawRandy TravisThe ChicksJo Dee Messina and many other artists while pouring herself an iced coffee. McGraw, who previously included Kay in his tour lineup, said he hears “a lot of Dolly in her voice.”

Most recently, Kay released her highly-anticipated sophomore album, Second Wind. The 14-track project is “a breath of fresh air,” with “Straight For The Heart,” “Right Now,” “The Last,” “What He Does,” “Cupid’s A Cowgirl” and “Feminine Energy,” among other highlights.
