Charles Kelley’s wife shared a heartfelt update on her pregnancy with Baby No. 2.
The Lady A star and his wife, Cassie Kelley, announced earlier this year they’re expecting their second child. Cassie shared a few photos on Instagram on Wednesday (July 2) — including a family photo, a sonogram image and more — with a reflection on her pregnancy so far. She wrote in her caption:
“Being pregnant with a (very) surprise baby at 42 has taught me so much already. Mostly, that God loves to keep us on our toes, and no matter how much you ‘plan’ for life, a curveball can happen in an instant 🩷 But as with any change, fear can steal the joy and the blessing. I’ve had to work hard to overcome the ‘fear’ part of starting over with a newborn, especially when we are in such a sweet season of parenting with a 9-year-old. But oh my gosh after the work and prayer comes the JOY. The miracle of what is happening in our lives with this little one. The way he is reshaping all of our normals. The testimony of new life he is writing in our lives. How lucky i am to get to be his mom 💙 14 weeks to go 🙏🏻”
Cassie shared in her Instagram post that she thought her firstborn son, Ward, 9, would be “our only miracle.” During the week of Ward’s birthday, however, Cassie “found out I was pregnant with the brother he’d been praying for.” She admitted she felt “shocked and overwhelmed” at first, “but with time and heart work, made space for joy, and was reminded that fear can make blessings feel like a burden. ..I’ve become wildly in awe of how my older child is growing up and how far I’ve come as a mother.”
Cassie said when she announced her pregnancy earlier this year that Baby No. 2 is the “biggest surprise of our lives,” and Ward “is the MOST excited.” She quickly followed the pregnancy announcement with a gender reveal to share that Baby No. 2 is another boy. Kelley’s Lady A bandmate, Hillary Scott, who is pregnant with Baby No. 4, beamed that this “makes 9 [Lady A] kiddos! ❤️” Scott is a mom to Eisele Kaye, 11, and twins Betsy and Emory, 7. Lady A’s Dave Haywood and his wife are parents to Cash Van, 10, Lillie Renee, 7, and Joseph Michael, nearly 1.
