Morgan Wallen confirmed on Wednesday (April 9) that his highly-anticipated new album will include a collaboration with a female artist; however, the reigning Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year has not revealed his mystery duet partner as of publication time.
Wallen responded to a post on X, formerly Twitter. An X user wrote: “[Morgan Wallen], please please PLEASE confirm ‘What I Want’ is a duet. You haven’t yet sang with any female artists on any of your first three albums, so PLEASE tell me this is the case.” Wallen reposted his response with two words:
“Indeed sir.”
This marks Wallen's first duet he'll release with a female artist (though he's previously teamed up with Eric Church, Post Malone, HARDY and others). The post prompted a few guesses among commenters on social media platforms, including Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, Ella Langley and Megan Moroney, to name a few. But Wallen did not respond to any of those comments or announce his duet partner on Wednesday.
Wallen announced his fourth studio album’s release date last month. The massive, 37-track project, titled I’m The Problem, will arrive on the first day of Wallen’s three-day Sand In My Boots Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama, which Wallen will headline with Post Malone, Brooks & Dunn and HARDY. Shortly after that’ he’ll kick off his headlining “I’m The Problem Tour” with a rotating lineup that includes Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett and Koe Wetzel as direct support, and Gavin Adcock, Corey Kent, Ella Langley and Anne Wilson on select dates.
So far, Wallen has released the title track, “Just In Case,” “I’m A Little Crazy,” “Love Somebody,” “Smile” and “Lies Lies Lies.” The full record is due to release on May 16.
“I have been a problem, for sure, and I've got no problem admitting that,” Wallen said in a statement when he announced I’m The Problem’s release date. “But there are other sides to me as well. I've spent the last 11 months really trying to figure out, 'Do I still want to be the problem? Is it time to move past that phase in my life?' I think it probably is, and this might be the last time I get a chance to honestly say it.”
