“Story of the day,” Luke Bryan said in a video he posted on social media on Monday evening (March 17).
Bryan and his son Tate, 14, stopped at a gas station to pick up some snacks before they went fishing together. The Mind Of A Country Boy artist said he noticed a “big guy, tatted up, he’s just staring me up and down.” Bryan thought in that moment, “oh yeah, he recognizes me.”
Bryan approached the counter and spoke with the man who apparently recognized him, but it wasn’t quite what he expected. Bryan said the man told him, “’you look just like Blake Shelton. You’re not Blake Shelton, are you?’ And I said, ‘I’m not Blake Shelton.’ He goes, ‘you gotta get that all the time. …you’re his doppelgänger.’
“’You know who he is? He’s on that TV show,’” Bryan said the man asked him. “I said, ‘yeah, I know who he is.’ And he goes, ‘could you imagine what it would be like to have Blake Shelton’s money?’”
Bryan’s wife, Caroline Bryan, commented on Instagram, “I never get called Gwen [Stefani, Shelton’s wife],” and added a laughing emoji. Bryan tagged Shelton in his caption and nodded to The Office: “Identity theft is not a joke.” Other Instagram users couldn’t stop laughing about the encounter, and one said, “I wanna know if he ever put two and two together.” Watch Bryan tell the story here:
