Kenny Chesney delivered an energetic performance when he took the stage at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Monday evening (March 17). The show returned to the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Chesney united the whole crowd when he performed uplifting anthem “Get Along,” a 2018 single that appeared on his 11-track studio album, Song for the Saints. “Get Along” is one of Chesney’s most-played hits spanning hits career, along with “Just To Say We Did,” “Take Her Home,” “I Go Back,” “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy,” “Beer In Mexico,” “When the Sun Goes Down,” “How Forever Feels” and many more. Fellow country singer-songwriter from East Tennessee, Kelsea Ballerini, highlighted Chesney’s 30+ No. 1 hits spanning his career as she introduced him to the stage. Ballerini, who noted that the pair’s relatives live just a few doors down from one another, hailed Chesney her “hometown hero and dear friend” as he took the stage.

“Get along, on down the road/ We've got a long, long way to go/ Scared to live, scared to die/ We ain't perfect but we try/ Get along while we can/ Always give love the upper hand/ Paint a wall, learn to dance/ Call your mom, buy a boat/ Drink a beer, sing a song/ Make a friend, can't we all get along”

Ross Copperman, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne teamed up to write Chesney’s 2018 single, aiming to encourage others to unite in a world that often feels divided. Chesney told iHeartRadio when the song released:

“…after I heard this song, about this message about compassion, and about empathy, and about loving one another, and about taking something negative in your life and moving along in your life somehow and turning that into a positive, it couldn't have been a better message...I'm really proud of ‘Get Along’ because it allows me to say something without being preachy. Because I don't think my audience wants to be preached to. I've never been the kind of artist that gets up there and tells them they ought to think a certain way. When I go to shows, I don't want to have somebody tell me I need to think this way. I just want to hear my song. And so, I've never used that platform or that stage to preach. But I do think it's possible to make people think on their own. That's why I think like, I had a song called ‘Noise’ that didn't tell them how to think. It just raised our hand and said, ‘Hey, think about this.’”

Chesney’s performance at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards arrives shortly before he kicks off his highly-anticipated limited residency, Kenny Chesney LIVE at Sphere in Las Vegas. The 15-show run kicks off on Thursday, May 22. Chesney said during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he’s never performed a Vegas residency before, but he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take the stage at the venue.
