Reba McEntire shared childhood photos of her son as she shared a sweet birthday tribute on Sunday (February 23).
McEntire’s son, race car driver Shelby Blackstock, celebrated his 35th birthday on Sunday. The country star said her son is “one of the greatest blessings God has given me. I love you with all my heart, Shelby.” McEntire posted a clip featuring mother-son photos from Blackstock’s childhood, set to her early 2000s ballad, “He Gets That From Me.” The song appeared on McEntire’s 12-track studio album, Room to Breathe, in 2003.
“His curly hair and his knobby knees/ The way the sun brings those freckles out/ Talkin' talk never miss a beat/ Yeah he gets that from me/ He gets that from me”
McEntire also recently paid tribute to her onscreen family with a nostalgic post. She shared a clip from the finale of Reba, an early 2000s sitcom that many fans say they rewatch. McEntire marked the 18th anniversary of the day the final episode aired, on February 18, 2007. She said on that day, “we said goodbye to the Hart family in the same place where it all started. We became a family, on and off screen, and I will always love the time we had together!”
Since then, McEntire has united with fellow Reba star Melissa Peterman on a new NBC sitcom, Happy’s Place. The comedy series premiered in October, and McEntire recently confirmed the show will return for a second season. The cast also includes Belissa Escobedo, Pablo Castelblanco, Rex Linn, Tokala Black Elk and others. Happy’s Place has featured former Reba cast members as guest stars, including Steve Howey (who played McEntire’s son-in-law, Van Montgomery) and Christopher Rich (who played McEntire’s ex-husband).
