Jana Kramer set the record straight after headlines about her husband caught her attention.
Kramer and Kristen Brust caught up on some “hot topics” the latest episode of Whine Down with Jana Kramer. Shortly after the episode began, they discussed a recent headline stating that Kramer’s husband, Scottish former soccer player Allan Russell, would not allow his wife to film sex scenes. It stemmed from a conversation they shared on Whine Down with Jana Kramer earlier this month. Kramer, an actress, artist, author and podcast host, said she’s since had a conversation with Russell about that.
“I hear what you were saying on the show, and I can empathy empathize that it would be difficult,” Kramer recalled of the talk she shared with her husband. “But when you say ‘I would never allow her to do this,’ there was a little piece of me that was like, ‘is he serious?’ If I got the role of a lifetime, would he actually make me say no? And so, for a split second, that was a good topic for us.
“He said, ‘I mean it would be something we would need to discuss.’ He goes, ‘I will never like it. I will never like someone being able to smell your pheromones.’ He's like, ‘those are mine,’” Kramer said. “‘And to have someone that close to you,’ he goes, ‘I am going to have a really hard time with that. Having said that,’ he's like, ‘if it's career changing and it's a big role, obviously I wouldn't say for you to turn it down. It would just be hard for me.’ And I'm like, ‘I totally get that. I totally empathized that that would be really hard for you.’
“But at the end of the day, he is the most supportive husband ever I think, and I want to just stick up for him a little bit because he's not the red flag,” Kramer continued. “He would never actually make me say no [to a role]. It would just be a discussion. I think it should be a discussion.”
Kramer and Brust, who is married to LOCASH’s Preston Brust, both acknowledged Russell’s support of his wife and her career. Kramer and Russell announced their engagement in May 2023 after about six months of dating. Soon after that, they announced Kramer was pregnant with the couple’s first child together. They welcomed son Roman James last year. Roman joins Troy, Russell’s son from a previous relationship, and Jolie and Jace, Kramer’s two children from her previous marriage. Kramer and Russell got married over the summer in an intimate ceremony in Scotland.
