Luke Combs revealed one singer skipped a wedding to perform at the Concert for Carolina on Saturday night (October 26).

Combs quickly called fellow hitmaker and North Carolina-born country star Eric Church to organize a benefit concert for their home state, which was affected by Hurricane Helene last month. It wasn’t until earlier this week, however, that it dawned on Combs to reach out to an artist whose song has been circulating TikTok. In particular, the song has appeared in videos documenting hurricane aftermath and cleanup efforts in the region, Combs noticed.

The “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma” artist said on Saturday night that it was three days ago that he contacted his social media manager. Combs asked about getting in touch with Wesko, and about 10 minutes later, they received a response: Wesko was unable to attend Concert for Carolina because of a wedding. When he heard from Combs personally, however, he ended up shifting his plans to take the stage at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Combs introduced Wesko to the stage to perform “Helene,” written for the people of North Carolina with a portion of the proceeds helping those impacted by the storm. Combs exited the stage to allow Wesko to have his moment, and when he returned, he said, “damn, he killed that one, man. That was so good. Oh, my goodness.”

Combs and Church headlined Concert for Carolina, along with James Taylor and Billy Strings. Other artists joining the lineup included Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Bailey Zimmerman, The Avett Brothers, Scotty McCreery, Chase Rice and Parmalee, in addition to a few other surprise appearances. More than 83,000 concertgoers raised more than $24 million for hurricane relief efforts during Concert for Carolina on Saturday night. It was all hosted by Caleb Pressley and Marty Smith and live streamed on Veeps and iHeartRadio.
