Months after she released her highly-anticipated sophomore album, Emo Cowgirl Megan Moroney expanded the project with three new tracks. The deluxe album, Am I Okay? (I’ll Be Fine) made its debut on Friday (October 4).

Moroney opened her latest record with an unexpected love song hiding behind a “heart-wrenching” title. However, the Georgia-born singer-songwriter reveals why her romantic tracks didn’t last in “Break It Right Back.” She goes on to send a message to “a**holes” on the internet and open up about her breakup with a 6’2’’ dream — as referenced in the title track, “Am I Okay?” — in “Bless Your Heart” and “I’ll Be Fine,” respectively. Moroney shared the stores behind the new songs on her now-17-track collection when she announced the extended project earlier this week:

  • “Break It Right Back”: “The love songs that start the album were short-lived and this song explains why.”
  • “Bless Your Heart”: “‘I’m Not Pretty’s older sister, written specifically for the internet (and real life) a**holes we all know and love.”
  • “I’ll Be Fine”: “The 6’2’’ dream and I broke up the day before I sang vocals for the title track. I remember being in the studio, holding back tears, thinking ‘how am I gonna sing this every night? Should I just trash this song and rename the album?’ I knew everything was gonna be fine but I needed to talk myself into it and that’s what this song is.”

The reigning ACM New Female Artist of the Year released the original edition of her sophomore album in July. The project includes “No Called ID,” “Man on the Moon,” “28th of June,” “Indifferent” and other highlights. Moroney referenced “Third Time’s the Charm” when she offered a sneak peek of “Break It Right Back” before its release. Am I Okay? (I’ll Be Fine) was produced by Kristian Bush:

Am I Okay? (I’ll Be Fine) is Moroney’s highly-anticipated follow-up to her widely successful debut album, Lucky. The album and deluxe edition arrived last year with “I’m Not Pretty,” “Lucky,” “Tennessee Orange,” “Traitor Joe,” “Sleep On My Side” and more. The expanded 16-track collection also included collaborations with Kameron Marlowe and Mackenzie Carpenter.

Moroney released Am I Okay? (I’ll Be Fine) as she gets ready to kick off her headlining tour in 2025. The three-time 58th CMA Awards nominee recently announced she’ll “play some of my bucket list venues & it’s going to be a very ✨blue✨ very magical year on the road. i’m already counting down the days until i get to see your faces & all of your ‘homemade tshirts & homemade signs’ :,) i know i’ve said it a lot but thank you for making all of my dreams come true - just over the mooooooon that i get to do this 🥹🫶🏼🚀👑👙🎣.” See the dates here.
