Carly Pearce shared an update on her health after revealing earlier this year that she’d been diagnosed with a heart condition.

Pearce, 34, said in a video she shared to her social media pages in late May that she’d been “dealing with some health issues.” The hummingbird artist was diagnosed with pericarditis, which is described as swelling and irritation of the tissue surrounding the heart, according to Mayo Clinic. One Instagram user asked Pearce about her health when the award-winning artist invited fans to ask her anything on her Instagram story on Monday afternoon (July 29).

“I’m doing really well,” Pearce assured. “I have started my normal workout routine again (and) am back to running some. The hope is to get off on more medication this fall as my doctors continue to monitor everything — but I am doing great, thanks for asking.”

Pearce said when she made her announcement about her health in May that she’d been working with doctors and her cardiologist, and determined “that it is in my best interest as I’m healing to alter my shows a little bit,” as she continued with her performances. Pearce took the stage shortly after her announcement at CMA Fest in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee, and continued touring with Tim McGraw through late June. The “truck on fire” hitmaker told her fans that her live shows might “look a bit different…because I have to keep my heart rate under control right now. …I’ve gotta really take this seriously.”

The Kentucky-born singer-songwriter has since opened up about her diagnosis, including in an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show where she spoke about how she discovered the heart condition. Pearce told Kelly Clarkson, “I thought I was dying. It was like crazy, crazy chest pain. I thought I was having a heart attack. ...it’s crazy because I’m a runner and I’m like, ‘oh, my heart’s healthy.’ I don’t know.”

Pearce is not only back to her normal workout routine and some running, according to her life updates on Monday. She said on her Instagram story that “August sounds good” to announce a tour, teased a series of shows “even better” than her headlining tour after 29: Written in Stone, seemingly hinted at a collaboration with “Next Thing You Know” star Jordan Davis, and more. Pearce said her favorite part about making a record — particularly, after hummingbird’s long-awaited debut in June — is to share the finished product with listeners. She said she works “so hard to write things that matter, in hopes that they will matter to y’all — and there is no greater feeling than seeing a body of work come to life.”
