Lauren Alaina is mourning the loss of her father and will no longer perform some of her upcoming shows to be with her family, the singer-songwriter shared in a statement on Wednesday (July 24).

“We lost my daddy last night, and I really don't have words yet,” the Georgia-born artist, 29, announced about her father, J.J. Suddeth, in her statement posted on Instagram. “I want to let y’all know that I’m not able to play the three shows I had scheduled for this weekend in Savannah, Virginia Beach, and Charlotte as I am going home to be with my family. Thank you for your prayers and understanding.”

Alaina was set to perform on Thursday (July 25) in Savannah Georgia; on Friday (July 26) in Virginia Beach, Virginia; and on Saturday (July 27) at the Carowinds Summer Festival Series 2024 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The “Road Less Traveled” star has not announced rescheduled dates as of publication time. Alaina’s fans and other artists — including Brothers Osborne’s TJ Osborne, Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Ashley Cooke, Nate Smith, Kylie Morgan, Tigirlily Gold and others — were quick to offer heartfelt condolences.

“My heart breaks for you. Good for you for taking the time process and grieve. Here for you,” Osborne wrote. Morgan said: “Oh sweet Lauren my heart breaks for you. Sending prayers now.”
