Kelly Clarkson covered a heartbreaking Miranda Lambert ballad nearly 10 years after its debut.
Clarkson took the stage during the Kellyoke performance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, where she delivered a stunning rendition of “Tin Man.” Lambert released that single in 2016. It appears on her 24-track collection, The Weight of These Wings, which also included “We Should Be Friends,” “Pink Sunglasses,” “Vice,” “Keeper of the Flame” and more.
“Hey there, Mr. Tin Man/ You don't know how lucky you are/ You shouldn't spend your whole life wishin’/ For somethin' bound to fall apart/ …Hey there, Mr. Tin Man/ You don't know how lucky you are/ I been on the road that you're on/ It didn't get me very far/ …Hey there, Mr. Tin Man/ I’m glad we talked this out/ You can take mine if you want it/ It's in pieces now”
Lambert’s “Tin man” is the latest country song that Clarkson covered on her day time talk show, which features genre-spanning performances by the original American Idol champ. Previous performances include covers of songs by The Judds, Reba McEntire, Josh Turner, Keith Urban, Maren Morris, George Strait, Jelly Roll, Kylie Morgan, Hank Williams Jr., and many others.
