Luke Bryan delivered the long-awaited, heartfelt single “Love You, Miss You, Mean It” to kick off the weekend on Friday (April 5). The award-winning country star tells a sweet story of a pair of high school sweethearts remaining connected to one another after moving away to college. He said the song tells a story that reminds him of the one he shares with his wife, Caroline Bryan.
“The first time I heard the song I felt like so many people would relate to it because we’ve all said that phrase ‘Love You, Miss You, Mean It,’” Bryan said on Friday of the song written by Rhett Akins, Ben Hayslip, Jordan Minton and Jacob Rice. “And the fact that the song just talks about young kids falling in love and the challenges of moving off to college and then finally reuniting is kinda my story with Caroline. I hope y’all love it.
“This song was special from the first time I heard it,” he added in a statement. “I knew it would resonate. It’s about young love and that whole process of trying to make relationships work through the on again and off again cycles. My wife and I went through that journey during college and I know a lot of people out there have too.”
Bryan and his wife tied the knot in 2006. They celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary in December 2023. Bryan previously said via his record label that he “married my college sweetheart. We dated back in college and broke up for nearly six years, and while I was off doing my Nashville stuff and touring and writing songs, she was finishing getting her career kind of going. Man, we just kinda bumped into each other one night, and it was like bam, here we are married.”
Bryan delivered the debut live performance of his new single on Thursday, February 29 on the historic Ryman Auditorium stage in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. It happened during the 2024 Country Radio Seminar (CRS). Bryan posted on his social media pages earlier that week that he was “counting down the minutes” — a reference to lyrics in “Love You, Miss You, Mean It” — to February 29 at 12:50 p.m. The country hitmaker streamed his debut performance live on his social media accounts and announced the release date that day.
This month, Bryan is slated to kick off his headlining tour “Mind Of A Country Boy Tour,” which references another lyric in a song on his forthcoming record. He teamed up with his wife, Caroline Bryan, to announce the tour earlier this year. The lineup on select dates will include Tenille Arts, Chayce Beckham, George Birge, King Calaway, Dillon Carmichael, Larry Fleet, HunterGirl, Ella Langley, Tracy Lawrence, Kameron Marlowe, Chase Matthew, Meghan Patrick, Lily Rose, Josh Ross, Alana Springsteen, Zach Top and DJ Rock. Bryan is also gearing up for performances at Truist Field in Atlanta, Georgia, and Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois, with Bailey Zimmerman, Marlowe and Beckham, and Zimmerman, Lawrence and Beckham, respectively.
