Jana Kramer announced her next acting role in a post on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon (March 27), and revealed that the film, which is based on a true story, will also be her daughter’s acting debut.

Kramer, 40, will executive produce and star in Gaslit By My Husband: The Morgan Metzer Story. Kramer will play Morgan Metzer in the Lifetime “Ripped from the Headlines” thriller, opposite Austin Nichols, and alongside her real-life daughter, Jolie Rae Caussin, 8, will play her daughter in the film. The two One Tree Hill alumni will portray the story of Metzer’s abusive marriage and staged attack by a masked man, who turns out to be her husband, according to information Kramer posted on Instagram on Wednesday. The actress, country artist, author and podcast host, who has previously spoke publicly about abusive relationships, will also film a PSA for LIfetime’s Stop Violence Against Women initiative.

“There is a lot to say around this but for now….I am ready to bring this true story to life and be a conduit for freedom for other women. Also wildly proud to have my daughter play my on screen daughter alongside me and of course work again with [Austin Nichols]. Thank you [Lifetime] for this next journey,” Kramer wrote in her caption on Instagram, adding the hashtag, “domestic violence awareness.”

Kramer recently posted a photo with the script of a movie on Instagram. Though she didn’t directly connect the two posts when she made her announcement on Wednesday, the Whine Down with Jana Kramer host teased earlier this month that “this role and script will be challenging bit it’s one I’m ready for. …here’s two things I can say about the movie. It’s a true story…..and it’s not Christmas 😉”

Kramer’s most recent movie role is Lexie Crenshaw in the Lifetime holiday movie, A Cowboy Christmas Romance. She’s also known for her roles in Friday Night Lights, One Tree Hill and others. See her post about Gaslit By My Husband: The Morgan Metzer Story here.
