Gabby Barrett is officially a mother of three.
The country singer-songwriter and her husband, fellow artist Cade Foehner, welcomed daughter Ivy Josephine Foehner (Ivy Jo) on Saturday morning (February 17). They announced on Instagram: “Our third baby arrived earth side early this morning, at home. Another life to love and cherish. Praising God for His kindness! Ivy Josephine Foehner 💕 (Ivy Jo ✨🐷)”
Barrett, 23, and Foehner, 28, announced in August that they were expecting Baby No. 3. Ivy Josephine joins big sister Baylah May Foehner, who was born in January 2021, and big brother Augustine Boone Foehner, who made his arrival in October 2022. Barrett and Foehner married in October 2019, the year after they met as contestants on Amrican Idol. The “The Good Ones” artist said as the couple celebrated their four-year anniversary that “marriage teaches so much and I’m thankful God gave me YOU to walk it out with. You are my favorite person and always will be. Thank you for being such a strong hold for our family and children. I love you.”
Barrett has since shared a unique glimpse of her life as a young mother through her music. She released her highly-anticipated sophomore album, Chapter & Verse, on February 2, taking creative control unlike ever before as she co-produced the whole project with Ross Copperman and co-wrote nine of the 14 tracks. The Pennsylvania-born singer-songwriter announced plans for an immersive “Chapter & Verse Experience” in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee, which she couldn’t attend in person “because my baby will be here any second now.” In one of her most autobiographical ballads to date, Barrett sings about her experience with motherhood on “Growin’ Up Raising You.” She wrote the heartfelt track with Jon Nite, Zach Kale and Jimmy Robbins.
“I’m only 23 – I don’t have all the answers to everything, and I haven’t gotten everything figured out,” Barrett previously said about her life as a young mother as she debuted “Growin’ Up Raising You.” She also premiered a stunning music video for the song earlier this week, and featured snapshots of her family life in the video for her single “Glory Days.” “I’m doing the best that I can while trying to raise other people to be the best people they can be. I feel so blessed to be able to have three little lives that I can help to flourish while I’m also trying to figure out life myself.”
Barrett is one of several country artists to announce she was welcoming a baby in 2024. Some artists, like Barrett and Foehner, were also preparing for Babies No. 2, 3 and 4, including Jessie James Decker, Kane Brown, Jon Pardi and more. Others are becoming first-time parents, including Parker McCollum, Adam Doleac and MacKenzie Porter. See the list of baby announcements here.
