When it comes to Valentine’s Day gifts, Carrie Underwood says chocolate is “every woman’s friend.”
Ahead of the holiday on Wednesday (February 14), Underwood said via her record label: “Chocolate’s every woman’s friend – in their time of need or in their time of happiness or in their time of sadness or madness, chocolate is my friend. Anything with caramel in it… White chocolate’s good too. You can’t beat some good white chocolate.”
The Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter has been married to former NHL player Mike Fisher for more than a decade. Underwood and Fisher got married in July of 2010, and have since welcomed two sons: Isaiah, who turns 9 later this month, and Jacob, who recently turned 5 and celebrated by skating on a frozen pond.
“…I get to watch my husband be a father to our boys – strong, amazing men, I am very lucky to be around them,” Underwood previously said of Fisher. “Mike as a dad is just super involved in our boys’ lives, very hands on. It takes a team, definitely, to be able to support my crazy life and Mike’s always running around doing a lot of charity things and he’s always meeting with people and he’s on different boards and stuff like that, so we’re very much switching off duties as far as taking boys here and there to school and sports and to all the extra-curricular activities. I just love that I feel like we’re such a great team. ..He’s just a great guy all around.”
Underwood wrote in her health and fitness book, Find Your Path: Honor Your Body, Fuel Your Soul, and Get Strong with the Fit 52 Life (which released hand-in-hand with her fit52 health and fitness app in 2020), that dark chocolate is her go-to dessert. Though the Denim & Rhinestones star mostly aims for a clean and healthy diet, she wrote that she’s “found a happy balance” that allows for “a little indulgence,” including with sweet treats. Underwood wrote that she typically chooses dark chocolate squares around 85% cacao, calling them “a good little sweet treat that satisfies my need for something sweet following a meal, and it’s actually good for me! …Dark chocolate is what real chocolate is all about.”
Underwood also observed “Galentine’s Day” by reposting a fit52 selfie with celebrity trainer Eve Overland, who shares fitness tips in Find Your Path, on Tuesday (February 13), writing that “Galentine’s Day is a celebration of the power of friendship. 💘 There’s nothing like the support of friends who are always there to lift you up when you’re down, cheer you on, and encourage you to keep moving.”
