Kenny Chesney debuted a heartfelt ballad that signals the dawn of his forthcoming era of musician Friday (November 10). The country megastar released “Toke Her Home,” a song he remembers felt “right” from the moment he heard it.
“Every now and then, you find a song that just feels right. There’s an honesty about life that you can’t just churn out,” Chesney said. “That’s what [‘Take Her Home’] is to me. When I got the demo, I immediately knew it was the first song I wanted to release from my next project.”
“Take Her Home” is Chesney’s latest release since “Da Ruba Girl” in December 2022, honoring his late dog, Ruby, with all proceeds going to the nonprofit organization, Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Months earlier, Chesney teamed up with Old Dominion on the single “Beer With My Friends.” His last full-length album was the 16-track collection Here And Now, makings its debut in 2020.
Chesney, who remembered the late Jimmy Buffett in a star-studded tribute performance during the CMA Awards earlier this week, recently announced his 2024 headlining tour. He’s bringing Zac Brown Band, Megan Moroney and Uncle Kracker on the “When the Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour,” set to kick off in the spring.
