Willie Nelson will relive his epic 90th birthday celebration when the televised special airs next month. The country music legend revealed during a recent interview on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert that the star-studded show will air on December 17.
Nelson turned 90 on April 29. The Texas-born artist celebrated at the legendary Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California. The all-star lineup included: Willie Nelson, Allison Russell, Beck, Billy Strings, Bobby Weir, Charley Crockett, Chris Stapleton, Edie Brickell, Kacey Musgraves, Leon Bridges, Lukas Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Margo Price, Miranda Lambert, Nathaniel Rateliff, Neil Young, Norah Jones, Orville Peck, Particle Kid, Rosanne Cash, Sheryl Crow, Snoop Dogg, Sturgill Simpson, The Avett Brothers, The Chicks, The Lumineers, Tom Jones, Tyler Childers, Warren Haynes, and Ziggy Marley. Nelson said in a statement in January that he “can’t think of a better way to spend my 90th birthday than being surrounded by family, friends, and of course the fans who made this all possible.”
Ahead of the Willie Nelson’s 90th Birthday Celebration special on CBS, the Country Music Hall of Fame member just released a new Greatest Hits album chronicling his decades-long career. Some of the highlights on the 15-track collection include “On Th Road Again,” “Whiskey River,” “Pancho and Lefty” with Merle Haggard, “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys,” with Waylon Jennings, “Just Breathe” with Lukas Nelson, and more. Nelson is set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The first-time nominee will be inducted alongside Sheryl Crow, George Michael and others.
