Jana Kramer is officially turning a page as she debuts her highly-anticipated new book, The Next Chapter, on Tuesday (October 24). The country star and Whine Down with Jana Kramer podcast host reflected on an emotional period of vulnerability and growth in her life as she shared her story.
Kramer recapped the first year after her divorce in a reel on Instagram on Tuesday, which begins with her staring at the blank page on her laptop on January 28, 2022. The video reflects on heart-wrenching moments as Kramer tearfully missed moments with her kids as they split time between both parents, interspersed with joyful moments with them. Kramer and her ex share daughter Jolie, 7, and son Jace, 4. Kramer has said, however, that The Next Chapter isn’t about her divorce, but rather about her own growth amid stories of heartbreak, past relationships, grief, female friendships, motherhood and more. The memoir tells her stories of “making peace with hard memories, finding hope all around me, and clearing space for good things to come.”
“This writing process has been therapeutic,” Kramer shared. “It’s been hard. A lot of the tears are from moments of appreciation and growth. But it doesn’t make it easy.”
Now, Kramer is expecting Baby No. 3, her first with fiancé Allan Russell, around the time of her 40th birthday (December 2, though she plans to deliver before then). The A Cowboy Christmas Romance actress has moved into her new Nashville-area home and is embracing the next chapter of her life with her growing family.
“I have been working on this book for over 2 years and I’m so excited it’ll be in your hands soon,” Kramer wrote in her Instagram caption when she announced details about her new memoir, as she posted a photo of the cover for the first time. “This book is a year diary from the day I filed divorce papers, to a year later and all that I’ve learned since. This book isn’t a tell all about my ex, but more stories that made me realize the end was near and the day I knew I had to walk away. I bring you back to stories that cover my first abusive relationship, to my journey with anxiety and how I started to believe that I deserved good things. This book isn’t about finding a new relationship and falling in love. This book is about the journey to loving myself and all the missteps along the way. Taking ownership for what I needed to work on, and all the beautiful lessons that came from the darkness.. This book details the hardest, most rewarding year of my life. And to finding hope in the darkest of times.”
