Hailey Whitters shared how she nodded to country music icon Trisha Yearwood with her latest anthem to release, “Tie’r Down.” The breezy song with a 90s country feel made its debut last week.

“It’s no secret I grew up a kid on ‘90s country radio and so when I went in to write ‘Tie’r Down’, I was reminiscing on [Trisha Yearwood]’s song ‘Xxx’s & Ooo’s’ … I was thinking a lot about the way that song made me feel - strong and like I could do anything I set my mind to despite whatever barriers anyone or anything might put in my way,” Whitters reflected in an Instagram caption on Tuesday (July 25). “I wanted to write a song that made young girls growing up in todays world feel that same feeling.”

Whitters posted a series of photos on Instagram, including one sipping a soda in knee-high red boots, a throwback picture as a child holding a Furby toy and wearing a LeAnn Rimes concert t-shirt, and one of the Iowa-born artist with Yearwood at the 58th annual ACM Awards earlier this year. That’s where Whitters earned her reigning Academy of Country Music New Female Artist of the Year title.

“Tie’r Down” is Whitters’ latest track to release, following “Im In Love” earlier this month. Whitters previously teased that she’s “really hoping to drop some new music soon,” in a recent conversation with iHeartCountry, where she also spoke about her smash-hit single, “Everything She Ain’t.” She said at that time that “it’s been really crazy for me to see just the whole life of that song because it was one that I just didn’t even think was gonna be on the record, and then here we are. …the whole thing has kind of totally surprised me.”
