Dan + Shay announced the release date of their next studio album hours before releasing the project’s first single. It comes shortly after Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney shared a powerful video that revealed they were “ready to quit” music, and after four months of not speaking to one another, they made amends and returned stronger than ever (and promised updates “soon”).
“Our new album, BIGGER HOUSES, will be available everywhere September 15th and pre-order begins tonight at 11 PM CT,” Dan + Shay announced in an Instagram caption on Thursday evening (July 13). “In addition to SAVE ME THE TROUBLE, you’ll also get 2 more of our favorite songs, HEARTBREAK ON THE MAP, and the title track, BIGGER HOUSES. We poured every bit of our hearts into this album and truly cannot wait for y’all to hear it. New era starts now! 🏠”
Smyers commented that he’s “so proud of this album 🥹,” minutes after the album cover was posted on the award-winning duo’s Instagram account.
Dan + Shay teased “Save Me The Trouble” earlier this week, signaling the start of their next era of music. It marks the first single since Smyers and Moony reconciled their rough patches, and decided to move forward. Smyers believes he and his duo partner are “a million times the closest we’ve ever been,” and now feels that the band is more sustainable than ever. Mooney said: “We love this band. This has been our life. It matters. It matters to people and we had a responsibility and we owed it to them. It’s amazing to know now that we found that joy that we were talking about.”
