Lainey Wilson reminisces on the “young, wild, crazy” rush of first love in the nostalgic music video for her smash-hit ballad, “Watermelon Moonshine.” The powerhouse country star premiered the video on Tuesday (July 11).

“Watermelon Moonshine” was directed by Stephen and Alexa Kinigopoulos, bringing to life a nostalgic teenage romance story portrayed by Rachel Lynn Matthews and Sam Sherrod. The video captures their whirlwind onscreen romance fueled, of course, by a mason jar of watermelon moonshine.

“I’m so excited to premiere the Watermelon Moonshine music video. This song is about the young, wild, crazy love that we all hope to experience,” Wilson said in a statement. “From locking eyes for the first time, to playing spin the bottle with an Ole Smoky mason jar, to being too crazy about each other to tame it, I am so happy with how Rachel Lynn Matthews and Sam Sherrod brought the vision to life through their portrayal of their innocently passionate characters.”

“Boy did this one take me back…Watermelon Moonshine is all about that young, wild, and crazy love,” Wilson added in an Instagram caption. “It’s the love that makes you feel like you’ve got somethin really special that can’t ever be taken away. Filming out in the pasture brought me back to those days and made me feel right at home. I’m real proud of how this one turned out and hope y’all love it too! ✨ 🍉”

Wilson released “Watermelon Moonshine” on the track list of her award-winning sophomore album, Bell Bottom Country. The highly-anticipated project made its debut in October 2022, and also included “Hillbilly Hippie,” “Grease,” “Hold My Halo,” “Heart Like A Truck” and other highlights. Wilson added two additional tracks following her acting debut on Yellowstone, “Smell Like Smoke” and “New Friends.”

“I've lived quite a bit of life the past few years, and I have a lot more to say,” Wilson, a former iHeartRadio Music Awards Best New Country Artist, said ahead of Bell Bottom Country’s release. “Sure, I love a good pair of bell bottoms, but Bell Bottom Country to me has always been about the flare and what makes someone unique — I have really embraced mine, and I hope y’all can hear that across this project.”
