Dan + Shay are slated to join The Voice in 2024, becoming the first-ever coaching duo to join the smash-hit competition series. The beloved country duo and the NBC show made the announcement on Thursday (June 22).
“SO EXCITED FOR THIS Y’ALL! 🔥” Dan + Shay exclaimed as they comments on NBC’s post on Instagram, set to their 2021 anthem, “Glad You Exist.” The duo — made up of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney — shared the news on their own account (set to 2018’s “Speechless”), writing in their caption: “SO EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE WILL BE JOINING [The Voice] IN 2024 AS THE FIRST COACHING DUO! 🤠🤠”
Smyers and Mooney will join returning coaches John Legend and Chance The Rapper, along with country legend Reba McEntire in the next coaching lineup. McEntire was announced as a coach earlier this year, following her role as Mega Mentor in season 23. She also served as a Battle Advisor during the first season of the show in 2011. McEntire’s return to The Voice came during Blake Shelton’s final season of the show after 12 years. In a previous statement, he said the show has “changed my life in every way for the better and it will always feel like home to me.”
