Dolly Parton elaborated on the line in her new rock single that points out “greedy politicians, present and past/ They wouldn’t know the truth if it bit ‘em in the a**.”

Parton shed light on that line in a recent interview on theTODAY Show. In a clip posted on Instagram on Monday afternoon (May 15), the beloved country legend said she was talking about “all” politicians, rather than calling out anyone in particular.

“All of them. Any of them,” Parton said. “I don’t think any of them are trying hard enough. I’m sure we’re all trying, but I just really think that, I think often that they worry more about the party than they do about the people. If we just do what we felt was the right thing rather than who’s gonna lose, or who’s gonna win this, or who’s gonna look better if they do this, rather than working from the heart.”

Parton released “World On Fire” from her first-ever rock album that’s set to make its debut on November 17. Parton delivered a powerful world premiere performance at the 58th annual ACM Awards in Frisco, Texas, which she hosted with fellow country superstar Garth Brooks.

“This is a song I felt very inspired to write,” Parton recently said of “World on Fire.” “I think it speaks about everything and to everyone this day and time. I hope it is something that will touch you and maybe touch enough people to want to make a change for the better.”
