Morgan Wallen is taking several weeks of rest after suffering additional injuries to his vocals, the “Last Night” hitmaker announced in a video shared to his social media channels on Tuesday (May 9).

Wallen shared that he “got some bad news” from his doctors, confirming that he’d injured his vocals again after a few recent performances in Florida. The country artist’s latest doctors visit comes shortly after he took several days of vocal rest after a canceled concert in Oxford, Mississippi. Wallen issued an apology for having to cancel his appearance minutes before taking the stage because of a vocal issue. Last week, he said that although he “wouldn’t say I’m 100%,” he was “doing a lot better,” and continued with his next few shows in Florida.

Now that he’s taking vocal rest again, Wallen promised he would follow up with rescheduled performance dates for the shows that fall within that time frame. He said in the video to his fans:

“What’s going on, y’all? I’m just gonna go ahead and get straight to it. I got some bad news from my doctors at the Vanderbilt Voice Center yesterday. After taking 10 days of vocal rest, I performed three shows last weekend in Florida, and by the third one, I felt terrible. So, I went in and got scoped yesterday and they told me that I re-injured my vocal cords and that I have vocal fold trauma. Their advice is that I go on vocal rest for six weeks. So, that’s what I’m gonna do. They want me not to talk at all, just said if I need to, it’s OK for something like this. ...We’re working on rescheduling all the dates during this time frame. We’ve almost got that done, but some of them are pending, so I’ll keep you updated. I won’t be able to make these festivals that I had during this time frame. But we are gonna make those right next year. I won’t be able to do the ACM Awards or the Lifting Lives event, but y’all make sure you still go. It’s for a great cause. They told me that if I do this the right way, that I’ll be back to 100%. And they also said that if I don’t listen and I keep singing, I’ll probably damage my voice. So, for the longevity of my career, this is just the choice I had to make. I hate it, but I love you guys. I appreciate the support that you always give me. I’ll see you soon, and I’ll be back better than ever. God bless you.”

Wallen, who is also nominated in major categories, was set to take the stage at the 58th annual ACM Awards on Thursday evening (May 11). He was also slated to headline the ACM Lifting Lives LIVE show, Morgan Wallen & Friends — including HARDYLainey WilsonERNEST and Bailey Zimmerman in the lineup — on Wednesday (May 10). The fundraiser event sold out in a matter of hours. Watch Wallen’s update for his fans here:
