Hunter Hayes might have “said too much,” he said as he responded to a TikTok user who wanted to know more about the “surprises” the singer-songwriter teased on his upcoming tour. Hayes kicked off his response by noting, as many of his fans know, that there are tons of songs that didn’t end up making his soon-to-release album, Red Sky.
“So, it started as, ‘I wanna play some of these songs,’ and it has grown into, ‘well, what if we played more than just a few, and let the people at the shows pick what goes on the extended version of Red Sky?’” Hayes said, adding, “I’ve said too much.”
Hayes’ Red Sky announcement was years in the making. His first-ever, fully independent album is set to release on April 21. Hayes revealed the long-awaited release date earlier this year, sharing at that time that he’s “waited over a decade to say this,” and noting that Red Sky was more than three years in the making. Until his full album arrives, Hayes has teased his new era by releasing “Missing You,” “Someone Will,” “Lonely Loves Me” and other tracks.
“This project is about the adventure of finding yourself to be yourself,” Hayes previously said of Red Sky. “Musically, it’s a road trip from where I’ve been to where I am. Lyrically, it’s for anyone who needs a reminder of how unique your fire inside is and how much the world needs more YOU in it. I’m so grateful to all the people who helped me bring this music and this message to life! I’ve never been more proud of a body of work than I am of RED SKY and I cannot wait for APRIL 21st to give it to YOU so you can make it YOURS.”
Shortly after releasing his highly-anticipated album, Hayes will kick off the “Red Sky Tour,” with the first show set for May 3 in San Diego, California. He said as he announced the dates that there will be “so many surprises on this tour both on and off stage!” See Hayes’ TikTok response here, and see his tour dates below.
