Dolly Parton is about to share the story behind her iconic fashion sense in her upcoming book, Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones. The legendary country artist delves into her lifelong passion for style and how she developed her one-of-a-kind look that fans around the world know and love.
“I am happy, proud, and excited to present my book Behind the Seams to the public,” Parton said in a press release issued Wednesday (March 22). “It is my hope that you will enjoy a look at my life in costume and hair and get to know some of the great people who have helped shape my life and my look. Enjoy!”
Behind the Seams will chronicle Parton’s decades-long career as she reflects on behind-the-scenes stories throughout the book, including “the largest reveal of her private costume archive,” and other monumental moments, per the release. Photographs include Parton’s “sky-high heels, famous wigs, bold makeup, eye-catching stage clothes” and more, spanning from the 1960s to present day.
Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones — which also includes author Holly George-Warren and curator Rebecca Seaver — will be Parton’s latest author credit since teaming up with James Patterson to release Run Rose Run last year. The Country Music Hall of Famer (and newly-inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member) has also released Songteller: My Life in Lyrics and other titles, and donated millions of books to children via her Imagination Library.
